SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) On August 12, 2015, at 4:28 p.m., Sioux Falls Police, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and Paramedics Plus responded to the intersection of 33rd Street and Western Avenue for a rollover accident. Investigation revealed that a Toyota Highlander was traveling south on Western Avenue when it was struck on the passenger side by a Buick Lucerne which was traveling east on 33rd Street. The Toyota rolled and came to rest on its top on the south side of the intersection.
Witnesses stated that the Buick went through a red light for eastbound traffic. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection was closed down for approximately 45 minutes while responders investigated and cleared the scene. The driver of the Buick, identified as Shirley Anderson of Sioux Falls, was cited for the red light violation.
