SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police sent an underage buyer into 24 off-sale businesses yesterday and every one passed the compliance check.
Captain Greg Vandekamp says the checks are held regularly.
He says police randomly select about two dozen off-sale businesses a month. He says in the past, the infrequent checks resulted in terrible complaince from Sioux Falls businesses. The once-a-month checks are proving more effective.
Clerks selling to underage buyers get an automatic court date and the owner’s license can be at risk for renewal.
