SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Better Business Bureau calls them "storm chasers."
Alleged contractors that come to town on the heels of damaging weather like last week's downpour in Sioux Falls.
Jessie Schmidt says if you're considering hiring an out-of-town contractor make sure they have a license from the city, are registered with the South Dakota Secretary of State and are licensed and bonded.
Schmidt says take your time going over the contract and make sure you read and understand all the fine print. She says if you have any questions about the term, ask plenty of questions until you fully understand the contract.
Schmidt says beware of door-to-door operators who may use scare tactics or high pressure pitches.
