Fourth Annual First Friday Chalk the Walk tomorrow

SIOUX FALLS (KELO AM) - Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) and American State Bank present the 4th Annual Chalk the Walk on First Friday, September 4.

DTSF has hired five talented local artists to create unique and exciting chalk drawings on the sidewalks of downtown Sioux Falls for public viewing. Artists will work throughout the day on Friday with completed work ready Friday evening. The chalk drawings will remain available for viewing throughout the weekend.

Featured artists and locations include:

Galacia Barton- Barton is a multimedia designer who uses coffee and sushi to fuel her efforts in building fantasy realms. She draws from nature, video games, and many a space odyssey to construct pieces that weave tales not of this world. Galacia will be working in front of Prairie Berry East Bank, 322 E 8th Street.

Solomon Carlson- Carlson's art represents a strong desire for experimentation in technical aspects and mediums used. He is a self taught contemporary artist from Sioux Falls and will be working in front of Pappy's, WoodGrain Brewery, and DocuTAP on the corner of 9th and Phillips Avenue.

Jason Folkerts- Folkerts is a four-time Chalk the Walk participant who is known for creating large scale murals at schools, churches, and more across the United States. He will be working on the 12th Street Plaza next to Bros Brasserie, 322 S Phillips Avenue.

Jaime Hill- Hill first took to the sidewalks while living in Wisconsin and has brought the love of chalk drawing home to South Dakota. Jaime is a full-time graphic designer and has a passion for all things creative. She will be working outside the Washington Pavilion, on the corner of 11th Street and Main Avenue.

Alexandra Hurney- Hurney is returning for her second year of chalking the walk. She loves making intricate and fancifull artwork. She will be working in front of American State Bank's future location at the Carpenter Building, 223 S Phillips Avenue.

In addition to the featured artists, many downtown businesses will participate by leaving a bucket of chalk outside their door to encourage the public to create their own chalk masterpieces on Friday.Click here to view photos of last year's works.
