SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - In Omaha, an eldery man was bilked out of fifteen hundred dollars when he gave con artists the numbers to prepaid debit cards.
Jessie Schmidt with the Better Business Bureau says the caller posed as a sheriff demanding money that would keep his wife out of court because she faced arrest warrants.
Schmidt advises being suspicious of callers who demand immediate payment for any reason. Shes says never give out personal or financial information to unsolicited callers or emailers
Schmidt says never wire money or provide debit, credit or prepaid card numbers to callers who say they’re with utilities, law enforcement or the I-R-S.
