SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol is reconstructing Saturday’s fatal two-vehicle crash on I-29 just south of 12th Street..
Captain Kevin Joffer says 27 year old Jeremy Johnson of Sioux Falls died after losing control of his car and sliding across the median into the opposite lanes where he collided with a car driven by 72 year old Loren Converse of Arlington.
Joffer says investigators are still interviewing witnesses and a toxicology report is being performed. He says investigators recovered a cell phone believed to have come from Johnson"s vehicle. Joffer says he's not eluding to anything, but he's says authorities are looking at all angles and will eliminate as many variables as possible.
Joffer says Johnson’s car broke in half on impact and both halves caught fire. Johnson was ejected from the car and died on the scene.
The driver and passenger of the other car suffered minor injuries.
