Mayor names new Assistant Police Chief

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Mayor Mike Huether announced Thursday morning that the new Assistant Chief of Police as Capt. Galen Smidt. He has been with the department more than 22 years as everything from a hostage negotiator, part of the Peer Support Team and a field training officer.

Mayor Huether said there was even something spiritual and special about his announcement.  The former Asst. Chief Matt Burns will now be the new Chief for the Sioux Falls Police Department
