Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO-AM) - Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire at 111 W. 14th St. Sunday afternoon. A neighbor noticed smoke in the building and called 911. Fire units arrived to find smoke in the building and a small fire in the kitchen of an apartment. Fire crews extinguished the fire in approximately 10 minutes. The residents were not home at the time of the fire. The apartment suffered minor fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by Paramedics Plus Ambulance, Mid-American Energy, Xcel Energy, Red Cross, and City of Sioux Falls Police Department. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to test their smoke detectors.
