SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The latest gulley washer aimed at Sioux Falls is remnants of a tropical storm.

Forecaster Todd Heitkamp says there could be two to three inches of rain between tonight and Thursday afternoon.

Heitkamp says the main threats from this drenching could be urban flooding and a significant setback to field work.

Heitkamp says once the rain moves to the east the dew point will drop and that means lower humidity. But he says temperatures will be above normal for the next ten days.

Heitkamp says the heaviest rain is forecast to fall Wednesday night around supper time.

Fall arrives Wednesday morning at 3:21.

Todd Heitkamp says the autumnal equinox means equal night and day.  But he says true half day, half night conditions exist near the equator.
