SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator Mike Rounds (R) on Thursday voted for a continuing resolution to keep the government funded that included restrictions on Planned Parenthood. As expected, U.S. Democrats helped defeat it so now it's back to square one.
Senator Rounds says the Republican leadership will "have its hands full" trying to find additional common ground to get something done before September 30. A so-called clean bill without Planned Parenthood could come on Monday.
Rounds and the other members of South Dakota's all-Republican Congressional delegation have repeatedly said that they don't support a government shutdown over the Planned Parenthood issue.
