SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Lincoln County State’s Attorney Tom Wollman says 16-year-old Mason Buhl will be tried in adult court for attempted murder in yesterday’s shooting at Harrisburg High School
Wollman says he had to prosecute Buhl in adult court.
Wollman says state law says prosecutors must file in adult court if the charges are class two, or above, felonies.
Buhl is also charged with commission of a felony while armed. Both charges are class two felonies
If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison on both counts.
Harrisburg Superintendent Jim Holbeck says shooting victim Dr. Kevin Lien is back to work today.
Holbeck says it’s important that Harrisburg school parents talk with their children about yesterday’s events.
Holbeck says counselors are available for students but he believes that since most didn’t actually see the incident, few are traumatized.
