SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Fallen South Dakota law enforcement officers will be honored tonight (10/22) during ceremonies at the Empire Mall.
Officer Sam Clemens says the ceremony is organized by Harrisburg Mayor Julie Burke-Bowen.
The names of the 53 South Dakota law officers who died in the line of service since the 1880's will be read during the ceremony. Honor Guards from the Police Department and State Corrections will be present, and Brandon Police Chief Dave Kull will play the bagpipes.
The ceremony starts at 6:30 in the old food court.
According to Down Memorial Page, 101 officers have died nationwide so far this year.
