SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission passed an amendment revising zoning ordinances for breweries and distilleries.
Gerald Beninga voted against the amendment because it requires the owner to live at least one mile from the operation.
Beninga questioned why someone who has the initiative, the abilities and owns ten acres of property, has to live on it to make it a viable interest without having to go through extra steps. He calls it a discouragement to economic development in rural Minnehaha County.
The Commission did agree to revisit the residential requirements soon.
