SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Councilor Greg Jamison will offer an amendment to a proposal to eliminate a bump back policy that allows terminated appointees to return to their old position in city government.

Jamison’s amendment protects the police and fire departments from elimination of bump back.

He says someone who has worked as a firefigher for their entire career, all of the sudden becomes chief and then loses their position because the mayor appoints a political friend.

Councilor Rex Rolfing supports getting rid of the bump back policy because he says it creates a sense of entitlement for civil service employees.
