SIOUX FALLS (SIOUX FALLS) - On November 2nd Feeding South Dakota announced its statewide goal to collect 2,500 turkeys. Individuals, families, businesses and churches have come together and donated to help reach that goal to provide a holiday meal for those struggling in our area.  Feeding South Dakota announces that it still needs 300 more turkeys for eastern South Dakota to fulfill its local goal to provide a turkey to its agencies and families in need.

In Sioux Falls, Feeding South Dakota will be distributing 500 turkeys, along with bags of potatoes and bags of fixings to guests allowing them to make a traditional holiday meal in their own homes. This “drive-thru” giveaway will take place in Graco’s south parking lot, located across from Feeding South Dakota. For those who are struggling to provide a Thanksgiving meal, please join us on Saturday, November 21st, beginning at 9 AM.  All vehicles are asked to please enter the area via Amidon Ave and park along 1st Ave facing north. Each vehicle will receive a ticket to enter the drive-thru area and volunteers will be on hand to give a turkey and fixings to each family in need, one complete meal per vehicle to the first 500 vehicles.

To reach their goal, Feeding South Dakota is counting on the community for help by making cash and turkey donations. AT&T and DirecTV have already generously donated 500 bags of potatoes and 500 bags of “fixings” to be given away at this event. If you would still like to make a monetary donation, $15.00 can provide a family with everything they need for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Cash donations can be made online at www.feedingsouthdakota.org (please select “holiday meal” in the drop-down section) or mail your donation to 3511 N 1st Ave, Sioux Falls, SD  57104. Frozen turkey donations can be dropped off at 3511 N 1st Ave, Monday through Friday from 8AM to 4:30 PM.

“As we gather with family and friends this holiday season and reflect on the many blessings we have, the annual turkey drive provides an opportunity to express gratitude by giving back to others in need,” said Matt Gassen, executive director of Feeding South Dakota.
