Brookings, SD (KELO-AM) - An SUV crashed into a store at the peak of holiday shopping this Saturday. It happened at the JC Penney location, on 22nd Avenue South in Brookings. The red SUV crashed when a 16 year old driver was greeting Salvation Army bell ringers and the vehicle ran through an entrance foyer, narrowly missing a Salvation Army kettle outside and a promotional display inside. Two people were injured in the mishap, with one treated on scene, another taken to the hospital for x-rays.
