Winter Weather Returns (Update)

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Winter weather is making a comeback this Christmas. The first part of the day will be quiet, but that changes late this afternoon into Saturday.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow is in effect for most of southeastern and central South Dakota until 6PM Saturday.

Forecaster Brad Temeyer at the National Weather Service says snow is expected to develop late this afternoon and evening, with accumulations in the eight to ten inch range.

Along with the snow, north winds gusting to 35 mph at times will reduce visibility and cause some drifting.

If you must travel, have a survival kit in the vehicle and use caution while driving.  For road conditions, you can call 511 or check the following web sites:
