SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Almost a third of South Dakota kids are overweight or obese, almost unchanged in four years.
Ashley Miller with the South Dakota Department of Health there is a goal to reach by 20-20. Miller says the goal is to shrink that number to 14%.
She says the department knows that's an ambitious goal, but they wanted to set the bar high, make the state and students stretch to reach it.
Miller says 181 South Dakota schools submitted student height and weight data, accounting for almost 40 percent of students.
