SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The American Heart Association and the N-F-L teamed up to launch the free PLAY 60 mobile app that helps house-bound kids burn off extra energy indoors.
Chrissy Meyer says the app uses technology in any smartphone to get players to jump, run and turn to make their on-screen avatar move.
She says winter weather has a way of keeping kids indoors and more sedentary while there. The PLAY 60 appuses gyroscope technology to get kids more active inside.
Players also answer health trivia and can collect digital coind to redeem for NFL and AHA gear for their avatar.
Meyer says one in three kids ages 2 to 19 are overweight or obese and a lack of physical activity is a contributor.
