Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The handgun the student brough to Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls in his back pack this week was loaded - what's more it was hot.
Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says investigators checked the gun's serial numbers and found out it had been stolen from an unlocked car in the city last October. Authorities don't know if the student himself stole the gun or he somehow got it afterwards.
Clemens says the student appeared high on drugs the day of his arrest. The Sioux Falls School District has expelled him, according to state law.
Schools Superintendent Brian Maher is praising the students who noticed their classmates suspicious behavior and notified authorities.
