Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) – A propane heater igniting nearby combustibles was the cause of a fire yesterday in southwest Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 4401 West Shipton Street about 11:30 Friday morning. When fire crews arrived on scene, there was heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage. Crews fought the fire from the exterior initially and moved to the interior for final extinguishment. The fire was under control within 20 minutes and completely extinguished within 40 minutes.
There was major fire and smoke damage to the house and contents.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks, four support vehicles and 22 firefighters. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by Sioux Falls Police Department, Paramedics Plus Ambulance, MidAmerican Energy, Xcel Energy and American Red Cross.
