Hartford, SD (KELO-AM) In a rare night of absolutely no controversy, the Hartford City Council, decimated by recent resignations, appointed a new member to fill one of three open seats.
In the shortest meeting in recent memory, Planning and Zoning Board Member, John McMahan, was appointed to council Thursday night.
“Everybody knows John, he's been around the community for years,” Mayor Campbell told KSFY-TV.
The city has been convulsed for months by arguments over the closing of the local economic development office and city officials committment to growing the small town just to the west of Sioux Falls.
Four council seats are up for election in April.
