SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Fall man is in intensive care for stab wounds suffered while he was a passenger in a van that crashed near East 57th Street and Highway Eleven early this morning.
Officer Sam Clemens says the van crashed when the stabbing victim grabbed the steering wheel. Police found the driver, 23-year-old Sonny Bear Thunder, and a female passenger walking to get help. Thunder told police the stabbing victim was not right.
Clemens says police found the stabbing victim in the van. Detectives don't who or how the 32-year-old man got stabbed. He allegedly assaulted an officer and spit on a nurse and will probably face charges after he is released from the hospital.
Investigators found a small amount of meth near the driver's seat and Thunder is charged with possession of a controlled substance. He's also charged with his second D-W-I.
Police do know Thunder and the victim were arguing before the van crashed around 2:30 this morning.
