MANKATO, Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising no unnecessary travel for motorists in south central and south western Minnesota tonight, reports KSFY. With the forecasted dangerous winds and snow, visibility will be dramatically reduced if not reduced to zero. Some highways in the southwest corner are still slippery from blowing snow. State Department of Transportation snow plow operators will do their best to make highways safe, but motorists must be aware that they cannot see any better than other drivers and may be pulled off the highways for their own safety. DOT officials are reminding drivers to check conditions before driving, be patient, stay farther behind other drivers and slow down.
