Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Familiar old trees have been cut down at the historic Touchmark All Saints property in Sioux Falls to make room for expansion of the up-scale retirement community.
The All Saints Neighborhood Association fought for months to try to preserve the park-like grounds on Phillips Avenue. "it is quite shocking and saddening to look over there and see all the trees that are now gone.", says Association President Katrina Lehr-McKinney.
Lehr-McKinney says the Association wants the best for the residents of All Saints, but it is still very, very painful to see the site preparation underway. Hopefully, she says, Touchmark will comply with the promises the company made about preserving the aesthetics of the campus.
Touchmark was planning a 109,000 square foot expansion on the east side of the park-like campus. The original All Saints buildings, constructed of rose-colored quartzite. are over 130 years old and are a city landmark.
KELO Radio News has asked Touchmark for comment on the start of expansion work.
