SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Fargo police say the suspect in the shooting of an officer last night was found dead in the home where he barricaded himself for hours.

Fargo Police Chief David Todd says 33-year-old officer Jason Moszer is not expected to survive his wounds.  Todd says Moszer is surrounded by family and they're in the process of saying goodbye to him.

Todd says the Fargo SWAT team entered the home and found the suspect’s body.  His name has not been released.

Moszer responded to the standoff after receiving a report of domestic violence.  The suspect, whose name has not been released, fired several rounds from inside the house hitting Moszer.

A SWAT team took the injured officer to a nearby Fargo hospital.  A visibly emtional Fargo Police Chief David Todd told reporters last night "We're losing a brother...one of our fellow officers.  Sorry."

The standoff ended just before 7 this morning.

The suspect's son called Fargo police last night saying the suspect fired a gun at his wife.  The caller and his mother go out of the home unharmed.
