SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say suspects drove a pickup into the West 12th Street Kmart early this morning trying to steal the ATM.
Officer Sam Clemens says once through the front door they tried yanking the cash machine off its pedestal.
Clemens says the suspects tied a cable around the machine, connected the cable to a chain and the chain to their truck. He says when they drove away the chain broke and the suspects continued to flee. They didn't get anything.
A witness says he heard the noise and saw four suspects in an older Ford pickup. The incident happened around 3:30 this morning. He could offer investigators a minimal description.
Kmart estimates the damage to building's front doors at $10,000.
