Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Even tradition must bend to accommodate the growing population in downtown Sioux Falls. The 37th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade March 12 will march a dramatically different route.

The Parade's Shawn Cleary says that instead of circling around Phillips and Main as in past years, the parade will be one-way and stay on Phillips Avenue.

"With the growth of downtown Sioux Falls, we've had to look at making some changes to our parade route." says Cleary.  He says they want to be respectful of all the people now living downtown.

In fact, the city is holding a news conference on Wednesday to announce streamlining changes to various downtown events, including route restrictions. The changes start with the St. Paddy's Day Parade.
