Pierre, SD (KELO-AM) - A motion to override the Governor's veto ofd House Bill 1008 has failed on the state House vote. Lawmakers voted 36 to 29 Thursday afternoon not to veto the measure. The bill would have directed transgendered students to use the bathroom or locker room appropriate to the gender listed on their birth certificate. The bill's primary sponsor, Representative Fred Deutsch says he's planning on bringing another similar bill for the next legislative session, and is hopeful it will pass.
