Sioux Falls,SD (KELO AM) - Beginning this Saturday, April 9, the City of Sioux Falls will open one leaf and branch drop-off site to assist with spring cleaning.
“This is the first year the City is opening a leaf and branch drop-off site in the spring. We have received some requests for it this year, which is probably due to our relatively warm fall and early, heavy snowfall in 2015. We’re excited to see the results of this pilot and will consider doing this more if it is successful,” says Dustin Hansen, Landfill Superintendent.
The spring drop-off site will accept leaves, grass, and branches and is located at 1015 East Chambers Street, west of Cliff Avenue by the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and Public Works Street Division. Access is available from North Drive to East Ash Street to East Chambers Street, and from North Cliff Avenue to East Chambers Street. The driveway just south of the gas pumps at the Street Division is the only access point.
The drop-off site will be open Saturday, April 9, through Sunday, April 24, 2016. Hours of operation are: • Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Sunday, 12 noon to 5 p.m.
Cost is $3 per load for cars, pickups, full-size SUVs, vans, or two-wheel trailers. Larger loads, lawn service companies, and commercial businesses will not be accepted at the temporary drop-off site and must go directly to the Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill.
Branches must be placed in a pile separate from leaves. Leaves must be removed from plastic bags. All loads must be tarped or in an enclosed vehicle. Plastic bags, large trees, stumps, rubble, and household garbage are not accepted.
General information regarding the Landfill, including hours of operation, rates, and materials accepted is located at www.siouxfalls.org/landfill or call 605-367-8162.
