SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (kELO AM) - Every year The Banquet picks children from low-income families to go Christmas shopping with law enforcement officers.
The 8th Annual "Kids and Cops" is Thursday night at both Sioux Falls Target Stores.
Sioux Falls Police Officer Jim Larson says Target gives each child a gift certificate. Larsen says lot of the kids purchase gifts for mom and dad, siblings, other relatives and a special teacher.
Larson says since "Kids and Cops" began in 2005, 386 children have gone shopping with officers.
Sioux Falls, Brandon and Tea Police, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office and the South Dakota Highway Patrol partner in the effort
