SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man wanted for the rape of a seven year old, several months ago, was arrested Thursday night in Madison.
Authorities say 22-year-old Drake Tyler Wendel was on Minnehaha County’s list of most wanted fugitives
Sergeant Jason Gearman says the search for Wendel started in Mitchell. Gearman says authorities did not receive tips but information on Wendel came from interviews the State Division of Criminal Investigation conducted in Mitchell. He says the suspect's location was then pinpointed by Madison Police.
Gearman says Wendel was staying with relatives and surrendered without incident. Wendel told authorities he had been in Madison for a couple of weeks.
He will be brought to Minnehaha County this weekend and be in court on Monday.
