Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - To assist the additional vehicle and foot traffic in the downtown area this time of year, the City of Sioux Falls Street Division will begin snow pickup operations in Zone 1 between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013. Vehicles will NOT be ticketed or towed, as no snow alert is being issued. However, if vehicle owners would remove their cars from the streets, more snow will be able to be cleared, especially from gutters.

“Since the last snow alert, the City has received several inches of snow during two different snow events, and that snow is adding up downtown,” says Galynn Huber, Street and Fleet Operations Manager. “We want to ensure that patrons and downtown residents have easy access between the sidewalk and the street.”

Crews will remove snow downtown between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday, but any remaining cars parked on the street will NOT be ticketed or towed.

General snow removal information is available on the City’s website atwww.siouxfalls.org/snow.
