Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) You'll have plenty of chances to pay respects during area Memorial Day events.
Bishop Paul Swain of the Sioux Falls Catholic Diocese will say outdoor Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Michael's Cemetery. The annual ceremony is planned at the Veterans Administration Center from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, featuring music by the El Riad Shrine Fife and Drum Corps and a keynote address by U.S. Army Major Chris Mercado. The VA will also hold a special Service of Remembrance Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the facilities main lobby.
A wreath laying service will take place at 11:00AM at Hills of Rest Memorial Park Veteran's Memorial.
In Dell Rapids, the community Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 10:00 AM, and will run from Main Street, to the City Park, ending at the cemetery.
Brandon VFW Three Rivers Post 4726 and American Legion Post 318 will hold a ceremony at the Veterans Monument at 9:00 AM, with a 21 gun salute and honors. It's followed by a brief service at Brandon Lutheran Church.
American Legion Post 266 in Tea invites area residents to join them for remembrances Monday morning at 9:00AM.
Hartford Legion members will hold their public events Monday evening at 7:00 PM, feaqturing music, speakers and a meal at the Post Home.
The Legion in Lennox will host a ceremony and service at the American Legion Hall, at 7:00 PM.
Many other area Veterans organizations have planned activities, services and events to honor the fallen.
