SIOUX FALLS, S.D.  (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls woman faces multiple charges after trying to elude authorities and crashing into an oncoming vehicle at 57th and Cliff before seven this morning.

Police tried stopping the speeding Mercedes at 49th St and Cliff Ave.

When the chase got to 57th and Cliff the suspect drove into the on-coming traffic lane to go around traffic stopped at the intersection.

The Mercedes then made a left turn onto E. 57th Street on the outside of traffic that was already turning. The Mercedes hit a 2016 Ford Escape that was turning left.

The Mercedes hit a light pole and came to a stop. The light pole was broken at the base and fell to the ground. The driver of the Escape suffered a minor cut to the hand. The driver of the Mercedes, 20 year-old Ziara Rivas of Sioux Falls, was arrested for aggravated eluding, reckless driving and driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
