SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - It's kitten season and the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is in urgent need of Purina Cat and Kitten Chow.
Malorie Adamson says you can make an online donation or bring bags of food to the Society at East Benson Road between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 7 p.m on. Thursday and Friday.
Adamson says the Society prefers Purina because it keeps the animal's diets consistent. Other brands are put into storage and used in case the animal has an allergy issue with Purina.
She says the Society is seeing a lot of pregnant strays and large litters coming in that need homes as well as food.
Foster families are also needed for animals that need round-the-clock care and one-on-one attention. Some may require physical therapy, specific medical needs and kittens and puppies that need a boost before they're considered for adoption.
Online giving is available too at sfhumanesociety.com.
Adamson says if you can't adopt or donate, consider being a foster family for animals that need a little more care and one-on-one attention.
