Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Reports surfaces on Monday that a home in Sioux Falls was bought by former Sioux City, IA high school basketball star and NBA journeyman Kirk Hinrich for just over $2.5 million. The property is reportedly located in Lincoln County on South Hendon Cir.
"Anytime you have someone who is interested in purchasing a home at that level, it's a plus; I mean that's a positive thing," said Tony Bachman with Keller Williams Realty. While Bachman couldn't confirm that the purchase came from his group, he did say that there's more multi-million dollar homes in Sioux Falls than some may think, "we're seeing more and more homes built at that level, and some that a lot of people don't know about that are $2, $3, or $4 million."
Bachman says there's a lot to attract a person to Sioux Falls, celebrity or not, specially when it comes to standard of living. "We're always ranked high when it comes to our community, raising a family, all those are big pluses." The fact that the Sioux Falls area now boasts over 250,000 residents means that big companies are starting to pay more attention to the area, which Bachman says will add to further growth.
The home isn't the only purchase that Hinrich recently made in Sioux Falls. According to the Vern Eide Motoplex Facebook account, the former Kansas Jayhawk also purchased a 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 4 wheeler from the dealership on June 11th. Despite all that, it's unclear if Hinrich plans to put down roots in Sioux Falls permanently.
