SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Brandon Fire Department holds its first "Fill the Boot" campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MDA Area Director Erin Hill says the funds go to treatment and cures for muscular dystrophy, A-L-S and related life-threatening diseases.
Hill says contributions help MDA's effort to fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art Care Centers, including the MDA Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at Avera Brain and Spine Institute.
The funds also help to send over 150 local kids to "the best week of the year" at MDA summer camp at no cost to their families at Camp Courage.
Brandon Firefighters "Fill the Boot" Saturday at Sunshine grocery store from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hill says MDA is thrilled to partner with the Brandon team and grateful for their "uncommon caring toward the kids and the adults we serve."
