SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man is accused of hitting his wife with a shotgun and threatening their three daughters after he had been drinking Saturday night at their home on East 18th Street.
Officer Sam Clemens says 29-year-old Nicholas Patrick Thomas allegedly hit his wife in the arm so hard that it cut her. Thomas also allegedly hit her in the face and stomach with the gun.
Clemens says Thomas told his wife to go to the hospital for treatment of the wound to her arm. He told her to make up a story about the injury or she would never see him or the girls again. When the victim got to the hospital she was very upset and told authorities what happened.
Clemens says SWAT and police negotiators responded and Thomas surrendered to police around eight that morning.
The girls were not injured and Thomas is charged with four counts of aggravated assault.
