SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today approved a labor agreement with the County Deputies Association representing members of the Sheriff’s Office
The Association is guaranteed a minimum one percent increase in salary or the increase approved for other county workers, whichever is greater, next year.
Commission Chairman Gerald Beninga says this has been the most informal and friendly negotiation. He says the Commission appreciates the Deputies Association's support. He says it makes the whole budgeting process a lot easier to have this contract settled so early in the year.
Beninga says it makes a huge difference to the Commission from a labor standpoint, and frankly, a relationship standpoint.
The agreement is a three year contract through the end of 2016. The contract also switches President’s Day for the Friday after Thanksgiving as a recognized holiday.
