Millions gifted for Sanford Imagenetics

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - T. Denny Sanford has gifted the health organization bearing his name 125-million dollars to combine genetic research with primary care.

     Sanford C-E-O Kelby Krabbenhoft says genetic testing will arm doctors with patient specific treatments.

     Krabbnehoft says he talked with Sanford just after he was hospitalized last year about the next great research opportunity.  He says the say talked about how genetics, molecular medicine and DNA were becoming routine tools in unloking individual's pathway to overcoming disease, cancers, sickness and pain.             

     Krabbenhoft says dedicated facilities will be built beginning next year in all major markets.

     He says Sanford Health has started recruiting the best and the brightest in internal medicine and genetics to support Sanford Imagenetics
