SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The U.S. Attorney's Office in South Dakota collected almost $3 million last fiscal year from civil and criminal actions.
U.S Attorney Brendan Johnson says his office helps to ensure justice is served and deliver a valuable return to taxpayers.
Johnson says the U.S. Attorney's Office in South Dakota has never gone over budget. He says that's not just his office but every U.S. Attorney South Dakota has ever had. He says they've always brought back significant revenue for the Treasury.
Johnson says the District of South Dakota also worked with other U.S. Attorney's Offices to collect an additional $21 million in civil actions that were pursued jointly.
Attorney General Eric Holder says the Justice Department collected over $8 billion in civil and criminal actions in the fiscal year ending last September.
