SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Snowbird retirees have headed south leaving the "Meals on Wheel" program desperately short of drivers.
Program Director Melissa Townsend says many of the volunteer drivers are 60 and over and won't be back until next spring.
Townsend says there are 21 routes that deliver about 320 meals a day. She says those 21 routes need a driver five days a week.
The work is strictly voluntary, you will not be reimbursed for gas. You must have a dependable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
Townsend says interested volunteers can call Active Generations at 336-6722.
