SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man faces aggravated assault and eluding charges after trying to win back an ex-girlfriend early this morning at her home on South Sunburst Place.
Officer Sam Clemens says 20-year-old Chase Ryan Stevens appeared at the 17-year-old girl’s bedroom window and she called friends to come to her aid.
When they arrived, Stevens allegedly hit one. Clemens says Stevens made a comment that he was going to kill all her friends and her as well. He said he had a handgun in his pocket but he did not show one.
Clemens says the girl and friends drove from her home and Stevens followed them to 26th Street and Marion Road.
Highway Patrol Captain Kevin Joffer says troopers next saw Stevens driving at 100 miles an hour southbound on I-29.
Joffer says the pursuit ended when Stevens lost control of his car in a ditch in Lennox and he fled on foot. During the pursuit Troopers learned that the suspect was Stevens and that his mother lives in Lennox. Troopers and Lennox Police went to an apartment complex and took Stevens into custody with out incident.
Stevens is also charged with reckless driving, speeding and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
