SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Some Minnehaha County Commissioners oppose a bill that would remove the $10 fee for a concealed pistol permit.
Commissioner John Pekas says if the measure passes it would become an unfunded mandate. Pekas says just the background fee is at the cheapest $30. He says the Minnehaha County Sheriff's office is going to take some time to do a background check.
$7 of the fee goes to the secretary of state and $3 goes to the county’s general fund.
House bill 1065 eliminates all fees for a concealed permit.
