SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Legislative coffees have a rich political history in South Dakota and the Sioux Falls Chamber is holding four in February.
Chamber Communications Manager Amy Smolik says the coffee is an opportunity to interact with lawmakers. Smolik says Saturday's coffee is at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown on East 8th Street from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. She says this round features lawmakers from Districts 6, 9, 12 and 14.
Smolik says because there are so many Sioux Falls area legislators the districts are split between the four dates in February. But she says legislators are on many different committees and sponsor differents bills so even if your legislator is not present you can get a feeling on how lawmakers might vote on various issues.
Smolik says attendees can write questions on a card and the moderators will sor them by issues or bills to provide some continuity.
The League of Women Voters will act as moderators.
