SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls growing population is putting stress on future funding for transit and Paratransit transportation.

City Councilor Rex Rolfing says a task force is trying to reduce the use of Paratransit which takes half the budget but provides only 20 percent of all rides.  Rolfing says federal funding for the programs isn't increasing and the city can't afford to keep pouring money in.

He says the city wants to continue running both services at the same levels.

Rolfing says some non-profits that may help include A-A-R-P, Project Car, Achieve, DakotAbilities and Active Generations, all high users of paratransit.

The task force is meeting next Wednesday at 3:30 at Carnegie Town Hall.  A final report is due early next summer.
