SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The entire event lasted twenty minutes but when the dust settled a Hills, Minnesota, man faced 24 charges in a carjacking in central Sioux Falls last night.
Officer Sam Clemens says it began with a two-vehicle accident at 26th and Minnesota where 36-year-old Jeremy Albers fled the scene then threatened three people with knife in a parked vehicle at the Freedom Convenience store.
Clemens says Albers assaulted a woman in the back seat but she couldn't get out and he drove off. He narrowly missed hitting police officers, drove across Minnesota, hit a parked car, crashed through a fence and stopped at 24th and Dakota.
Albers ran and was found by officers and a K-9 hiding in an unattached garage on South Center Avenue.
He’s charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated eluding, aggravated assault, aggravated assault against law enforcement, grand theft, robbery, intentional damage to property, third degree burglary and his blood alcohol content was .26.
