SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Police are crediting a young, female babysitter in the arrest of a suspected home burglar.
Captain Greg Vandekamp says the girl saw a strange car driving by the home on South Glenwood Avenue Thursday afternoon and called the children’s mother
Vandekamp says the parents called police The father, who was on his way home, managed to flag down a Highway Patrol Trooper.
Meanwhile, Vandekamp says the car pulled into the home's driveway. The suspect knocked on the front door and when no one answered he kicked it in. The babysitter had taken her charges into a back bedroom. When she approached the suspect he told her to go to the bedroom.
Vandekamp says that's when the trooper got to the house and arrested 24-year-old Robert George Schiradelly of Sioux Falls. Schiradelly is charged with burglary.
Investigators believe Schiradelly may have been involved in a home burglary Thursday morning on West Second Street.
