Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) A man who admitted he was texting while driving was sentenced on Tuesday to a maximum 9 years in prison for a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Sioux Falls in 2012.
22-year-old Brent O'Neal told the packed courtroom that he has to live with what happened the rest of his life. The sentence was part of a plea agreement.
O'Neal was actually sentenced to 20 years with 11 suspended.
He admits he was texting and driving before he run into four vehicles on Minnesota Avenue in July of 2012, killing 33-year-old Phillip Sorensen on his motorcycle.
